Participating in the International United World College Film Festival gives students the opportunity to showcase their artistic talent and storytelling abilities on an international stage. It fosters cultural exchange, empathy, and understanding among the global UWC community. Moreover, students can gain valuable experience in film production, meet fellow creatives, and contribute to meaningful discussions about crucial global issues.
Guidelines for Film Festival Entries:
1. Films should not be longer than 15 min.
2. Films must be recorded at a resolution of 1080p or higher and 24 FPS to ensure visual quality. Mobile phones such as iPhone can be used.
3. Pay close attention to sound quality, as clear audio enhances the overall cinematic experience.
4. Consider themes that align with the values of United World College, promoting unity, diversity, peace, sustainability and global understanding.
5. Exercise sensitivity and discernment if there is content that others might find offending, and include a content warning at the beginning of the film if such elements are featured.
6. Films can be presented in colour or black and white, or utilize a combination of both, enhancing artistic expression.
7. Artificial Intelligence can be used, but it is important to acknowledge and credit its use.
8. Ensure the inclusion of credits text at the end of the film.

2. To organize a local festival, students can set deadline for local sumissions, secure a venue, promote the event, and arrange for screenings and awards to create a memorable and inclusive experience for the students.

The winners at the United World College film festival are selected through a rigorous process conducted by a panel of experienced judges. Each category, including Best Story, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Actor/Actress, Best Directing, and Overall Winner, is assessed based on criteria such as creativity, technical skill, storytelling, and impact. The judges carefully review and analyse each film before making their final decisions.
